I am writing this blog from our deck overlooking the Olifant’s river in the Lowveld. For the last 20 years, we have spent our annual holiday in the Lowveld of South Africa on the game farm we have a small share in. It is an ideal place for a bush holiday – restful and quiet.
I have always been hyper-vigilant with my children’s health and even more so when holidaying in the bushveld or tropical areas. James, Alex and Emily have been coming to the farm from the time they were babies. Alex was just 6 months old when we brought her the first time.
Over the years I have developed a regime that we still adhere to ensuring we keep the mozzies at bay and limit the risk of pesky insect bites:
- At 4pm, everyone puts on long pants for the evening game drive
- Any visible skin gets a coating of Peaceful Sleep
- When we return from the game drive, the kids put on long pyjama’s after washing
- Another spray of Mozzie repellent before heading on down to the boma for a braai
We love to travel and this annual trip has become a non-negotiable for us but I am always conscious of the risks associated with insect or mosquito bites . If you are travelling with little ones, cover up at dusk and use a mosquito spray that is safe for babies, like Peaceful sleep.
Peaceful Sleep is a gentle protector that is safe for use on babies from the age of six months. Learn more about Peaceful Sleep’s Family Care Range.
