Sleep is essential for brain development. During sleep, our brain ‘defrags’ and prepares for the next awake time. We bed-down memories and learning is enhanced through sleep. Learning, social engagement and mood are negatively affected when we are in a sleep deprived state. Yet sleep often seems so elusive for our toddlers This talk looks at why we need prioritise sleep, why things go wrong in the toddler years and how to solve sleep problems.
